**Aitu** is a Chinese developer of AI-assisted sewing equipment and garment-manufacturing robots. Its legal name is Aitu (Zhejiang) Intelligent Sewing Technology Co., Ltd., and it is part of Jack Technology. Its products include sewing machines, fabric-handling robots, and production-analysis software.[1] The company is based in Hangzhou, China.[2]

The Aitu brand and a humanoid sewing-robot prototype debuted in September 2025.[3] In October 2026, Jack announced that Aitu's sewing-robot manufacturing base in Taizhou, Zhejiang, had begun production, with a planned annual capacity of 10,000 robots. That figure describes planned manufacturing capacity, not confirmed annual output or customer installations.[4]

## Background and design

Jack Technology developed Aitu as an AI-enabled equipment brand for garment manufacturers. Design consultancy IDEO worked on its brand positioning, sewing-machine industrial design, and the interaction and industrial design of its humanoid robot. IDEO's research included visits to factories in China, Vietnam, and Bangladesh and interviews with managers, engineers, and sewing workers.[3]

The brand's September 2025 debut included events at Shanghai Tower and the China International Sewing Machine & Accessories Show. Jack identifies the Ai10 sewing machine as one of the products introduced that month.[2][3]

Aitu's stated application areas include apparel, home furnishings, and automotive interiors.[1] Its robot work is an application of [embodied AI](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/embodied_ai) to flexible-material handling, rather than a general-purpose consumer robot.[5]

## Sewing robots

Aitu describes its robot as a system for garment factories that combines a sewing-specific [vision-language-action model](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/vision_language_action_model), visual perception, and an adaptive gripping mechanism. Its listed operations include fabric-piece separation, picking, placement, and alignment.[5]

| Application | Work described by Aitu |
| --- | --- |
| Template-machine loading | Positioning garment components such as collars, cuffs, and pockets |
| Pocket-attacher feeding | Placing denim and shirt fabric for a pocket-attachment operation |
| Fusing-press unloading | Handling small fabric pieces and stacking them, with single- or dual-arm operation |
| Sewing cell | Coordinating a robot, fixture, and sewing machine for a designated sewing task |

These are vendor-described applications. Aitu specifies vision-guided placement accuracy of ±0.5 mm and advertises fabric changes without reprogramming. Those are manufacturer claims, not independently established results for every fabric or production condition.[5]

The Chinese product page says the robot learns garment workers' handling motions, including smoothing, alignment, and separation, and describes collar sewing in collaboration with a template machine. It characterizes large-factory use as testing applications. This distinguishes fabric handling and a particular sewing cell from a factory capable of making complete garments without human involvement.[6]

## Demonstration at IROS 2025

In an October 24, 2025 report, Aitu described demonstrating its robot with a Jack template sewing machine at IROS 2025. The company reported handling stacked and scattered fabric, grasping pieces, and manipulating them for the sewing operation. It also described a mobile base intended to move between sewing stations, fabric racks, and workbenches.[7]

The report framed pre-sewing preparation as a principal application and scheduled the product's official release for 2026. It was a company account of an exhibition demonstration, not a peer-reviewed evaluation of the robot's production reliability.[7]

## Sewing machines and software

The robot is separate from Aitu's AI-assisted lockstitch sewing machine. Aitu describes the machine as combining a fabric-parameter database, digitally controlled fabric feeding, and the Tianyan Fox [computer vision](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/computer_vision) system. Its published functions include adapting settings to materials such as cotton, linen, and leather, analyzing work actions, and supporting process instruction.[8]

Aitu also markets production-analysis software. Its listed functions include production statistics, line-capability evaluation, management dashboards, and suggestions for addressing production bottlenecks. The software page describes fabric-parameter distribution and analysis of operator gestures and cycle times.[9] These services concern production monitoring and assistance; they are not the same product as an autonomous fabric-handling robot.

## Robotics partnerships

On March 11, 2026, Jack announced a joint robotics company established by Aitu and XSquare Robot Technology (Shenzhen). The announcement assigns 95% of the investment to Aitu and 5% to XSquare and names the venture 艾图量变智能机器人（杭州）有限公司. Its stated purpose was joint development of humanoid-robot applications for garment manufacturing.[2]

On May 7, 2026, Jack reported that Aitu had signed agreements with the Zhejiang Humanoid Robot Innovation Center and [AgiBot](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/agibot), with joint ventures intended to advance garment-industry robotics. The announcement links these agreements to signing events on April 30 and May 7. It describes a division of work involving Aitu's manufacturing applications and industry data and its partners' robotics technology and delivery capabilities.[10]

## Manufacturing expansion

Jack's October 15, 2026 announcement identified Taizhou as the location of Aitu's sewing-robot manufacturing base. The company said the facility had started production and incorporated flexible assembly lines, inspection systems, and digital management. It reported a planned annual capacity of 10,000 units.[4]

The announcement concerns a factory that manufactures robots, not an automated garment factory producing 10,000 garments. It does not supply a delivered-unit count or demonstrate that the stated annual capacity had already been reached.[4]

## Fabric manipulation context

Cloth handling differs from manipulating rigid parts because textiles deform and vary in material properties and shape. A 2024 review by Alberta Longhini and colleagues describes how methods often work for particular textiles or subsets of textiles, with generalization across materials remaining a research problem.[11] This literature provides context for Aitu's focus on fabric separation and positioning. It does not independently validate Aitu's hardware, accuracy specification, or commercial claims.
