Claude Motion is a code-based animation feature from [Anthropic](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/anthropic), introduced in beta on October 8, 2026. It produces animated explainers, charts, and product walkthroughs inside [Claude](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/claude), with downloadable MP4 output. Anthropic launched it alongside Claude Dashboards.[1]

## How animations work

Motion animations are [Claude Artifacts](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/claude_artifacts). Claude writes code to move text, shapes, charts, and images, rather than using a video-generation model. Edits can target one number or a scene's timing while leaving the surrounding animation unchanged. Motion does not synthesize realistic footage or people.[2]

## Creating and editing an animation

An animation can begin in a conversation, through Output > Motion in the message box, or from the Motion template in the Artifacts tab. The guide recommends specifying the audience, destination, and approximate duration, with relevant reports, data, or images attached.[2]

Users can request changes in the conversation or edit the animation directly. Export > MP4 downloads the result. Claude saves animations in the Artifacts tab, and new animations are private until shared.[2]

On Team and Enterprise plans, artifact links remain within the organization unless an owner enables external sharing. Artifacts open beside the conversation and can be reopened to continue work.[4]

## Availability and organization controls

| Plan | Motion beta access | Default setting |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Team | Available | On |
| Enterprise | Available | Off until an owner enables it |

Organization owners manage Motion under Organization settings > Artifacts. Cloud code execution and file creation must also be enabled. Enterprise custom roles can limit template access to selected groups. Turning the template off does not remove existing animations.[3]

Motion shares the plan's usage allowance with other Claude work. Longer or more complex animations consume more of the allowance than an ordinary message.[2]
