**Robot teleoperation** is the remote control of a [robot](/wiki/robot) by a human operator over a communication link that carries commands from the operator to the robot and sensory feedback from the robot back to the operator. It lets people perform tasks in environments that are dangerous, distant, or otherwise inaccessible, and since the early 2020s it has become the dominant way to collect human demonstration data for [imitation learning](/wiki/imitation_learning) and [Vision-Language-Action](/wiki/vision_language_action_model) models, where teleoperated demonstrations are used to train autonomous robot policies.
