**Roze**, also reported as **Roze AI**, is an artificial intelligence and robotics company that [SoftBank Group](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/softbank_group) has been reported to be setting up in the United States and preparing for an initial public offering (IPO). According to press reports from April 2026 onward, the company would use AI and autonomous robots to speed up the construction of [data centers](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/data_center) and other [AI infrastructure](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/ai_infrastructure).[1][2][3][4] The Financial Times reported in April 2026 that SoftBank executives were aiming for a valuation of about $100 billion in a U.S. listing that could take place as early as that year.[1] The figure is a reported target for a future listing, not the price of any transaction. In May 2026 Reuters reported that SoftBank had hired Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Mizuho and Morgan Stanley to work on the IPO.[4]

SoftBank has not publicly described the business. Its annual securities report for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026 lists a wholly owned Delaware holding company named Roze AI LLC, and when an analyst asked about that company at an August 2026 investor briefing, SoftBank declined to comment.[5][6] SoftBank's own press releases had not mentioned Roze as of late October 2026, and reporting that month still described the U.S. listing as a plan.[7][8]

## Background

In October 2025, [Masayoshi Son](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/masayoshi_son)'s SoftBank Group said it was investing in four essential areas: AI chips, AI robots, AI data centers and energy.[9] As part of that push it agreed that month to buy the robotics business of the Swiss engineering group [ABB](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/abb) for a total purchase price of $5.375 billion. The business develops, makes and sells [industrial robots](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/industrial_robot) and had about 7,000 employees. SoftBank said it expected the deal to close in mid-to-late 2026 and that the business would be complemented by its existing robotics investments, among them SoftBank Robotics Group, Berkshire Grey, AutoStore, [Agile Robots](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/agile_robots) and [Skild AI](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/skild_ai). Son said at the time: "SoftBank's next frontier is Physical AI."[9] In its August 2026 investor presentation, SoftBank still listed the ABB robotics purchase as planned for 2026.[10] An intermediate holding company, Silver Bands 4 (US) Corp., which SoftBank abbreviates as Robo HD, holds robotics-related investments.[5][10]

SoftBank is also one of the partners in the [Stargate Project](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/stargate_project), the $500 billion U.S. data center project announced in 2025 with [OpenAI](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/openai), [Oracle](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/oracle) and [MGX](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/mgx).[7] Reuters described SoftBank as leading the financing for Stargate when it reported the Roze plan.[1]

## Reported plans (April 2026)

The plan became public through press reports at the end of April 2026; SoftBank declined to comment.[1][11]

- **Financial Times:** SoftBank planned to create and list an AI and robotics company called Roze in the U.S. that would be involved in building data centers. It could be listed as early as 2026, and executives were aiming for a valuation of $100 billion. According to the newspaper, Son wanted to list the business to help offset commitments that included pledges to OpenAI.[1] CNBC, summarizing the report, said Son was driving the effort and that the company would focus on building data centers and using robotics to make AI infrastructure construction more efficient.[3]
- **The Wall Street Journal:** Roze would aim to make U.S. data center construction more "efficient," in part by deploying autonomous robots to help build server farms, and some executives wanted the IPO to happen by the second half of 2026.[2] The Journal also reported that SoftBank planned an analyst event at a data center facility in Texas in July to build interest in the listing.[12]
- **Bloomberg:** SoftBank aimed to create and float the vehicle as soon as 2026, though people familiar with the matter said the timing could slip to 2027.[11]

The Financial Times also reported doubts inside SoftBank. Some people there were skeptical "about the valuation and the proposed timeline for an IPO,"[2] in part because of uncertainty caused by the conflict in the Middle East, and the size of the stake to be sold had not been decided.[3][13]

### Assets

According to CNBC's account of the FT report, Roze could bundle energy, land and infrastructure assets from SoftBank's portfolio together with ABB Robotics, whose robotics hardware SoftBank was expected to combine with AI.[3] The Daily Upside, summarizing the same reporting, wrote that people had told the FT that ABB's robotics business could be a centerpiece of Roze once the acquisition closed, and that people had told the Wall Street Journal that Roze would invest in developing robots to help with the data center build-out.[14]

Some secondary outlets went further and wrote that Roze would also contain the chip designer [Ampere Computing](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/ampere_computing) and the digital infrastructure investor DigitalBridge.[15] The Reuters and Bloomberg reports on the FT story did not say that; they mentioned DigitalBridge and, in Bloomberg's case, Ampere as other SoftBank investments.[1][13] When SoftBank completed its roughly $3.1 billion purchase of DigitalBridge on September 30, 2026, it said DigitalBridge would continue to operate as a separately managed platform led by Marc Ganzi.[16]

## IPO preparations

On May 26, 2026, Reuters reported, citing two people familiar with the matter, that SoftBank had hired Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Mizuho and Morgan Stanley for the Roze IPO. The same report said SoftBank had separately hired banks for an IPO of SB Energy, its energy and infrastructure developer, which could come as early as September 2026, and that Roze was targeting a similar time frame. Reuters described Roze as a planned spinoff that would deploy autonomous robotics to speed up the construction of large-scale AI infrastructure, including data centers, to address labor and construction bottlenecks.[4]

The two listings then moved at different speeds. SB Energy publicly filed a registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on September 1, 2026 and applied to list on Nasdaq under the ticker "SBE."[17] SoftBank's list of 2026 press releases contained no comparable announcement for Roze as of late October 2026.[8]

## Roze AI LLC in SoftBank's filings

SoftBank Group's annual securities report for the fiscal year from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026, filed in Japan on June 22, 2026, lists Roze AI LLC among its subsidiaries. The entry gives the company's address as Delaware, United States, its principal business as a holding company, and its capital contributions as 4,394,265 thousand U.S. dollars (about $4.39 billion). SoftBank's ownership is shown as 100%, all of it held indirectly, and the company is marked as a "specified subsidiary" (tokutei kogaisha), a designation under Japanese disclosure rules for subsidiaries that exceed certain size thresholds relative to the parent. In the notes to the consolidated financial statements, Roze AI LLC appears in the "Other" segment of SoftBank's major subsidiaries, with an ownership figure for March 31, 2026 and none for March 31, 2025.[5]

At SoftBank's investor briefing for the April-June 2026 quarter, held on August 6, 2026, the first analyst question asked for details on "Roze AI LLC, the new company disclosed in the Annual Securities Report, including the nature of its business." Kazuko Kimiwada, a SoftBank corporate officer who heads its accounting unit, replied: "We would like to refrain from commenting at this time."[6] SoftBank has not publicly confirmed what Roze AI LLC holds or that it is the company described in the press reports.

## Later developments

### Gravis Robotics

On July 24, 2026, Bloomberg reported that SoftBank was considering an acquisition of Gravis Robotics, a Zurich startup founded in 2022 as a spinout from [ETH Zurich](https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/eth_zurich) that makes hardware and software for autonomous earthmoving equipment. According to people familiar with the matter, SoftBank planned to build a large stake in Gravis and hold it in "a new company it's setting up called Roze," possibly in several stages. A deal could value Gravis at more than $500 million, but no final decision on its size or structure had been made, and both companies declined to comment.[18]

On August 17, 2026, Gravis announced a $200 million Series A investment from SoftBank, which it called the largest Series A in construction robotics history.[19] Neither the Gravis announcement nor Bloomberg's report on the deal said that the stake would be held by Roze, and no valuation was disclosed. Bloomberg's report described SoftBank as still "planning to establish" Roze in the U.S.[19][20]

### Gulf fund

On October 9, 2026, the Financial Times reported that SoftBank was seeking to raise as much as $100 billion from Gulf investors, and that Son had held early talks with potential investors including some in the United Arab Emirates. The proposed fund would buy companies and use AI and machines, "including from SoftBank's robotics arm Roze," to improve their operations. A SoftBank representative declined to comment, and Bloomberg's account of the report said SoftBank also planned to take Roze public in the U.S.[7] Tom's Hardware noted that it was unclear whether such a fund would finance only acquisitions or also the development of Roze.[21]

## Reception

Some coverage was skeptical of the plan. Capacity wrote that SoftBank was seeking a $100 billion listing for a company that had not yet shipped a product or published a revenue figure.[15] TechCrunch pointed to SoftBank's history of backing failed startups such as Zume, a pizza delivery company that shut down in 2023,[2] and Bloomberg wrote that the planned spinoff would run up against growing concern about the sustainability of the global data center construction boom.[13] Reuters reported that analysts said Roze could become one of the largest AI-related listings if the IPO went ahead.[4]

"The Ultimate Neolab List," a web list of AI lab companies maintained by Debarghya Das, includes Roze but classes it as "Not a neolab," describing it as a "Corporate SoftBank IPO vehicle for robots that build data centers; not a researcher-led lab." The list marks its $100 billion figure as not coming from a closed funding round.[22]

## Similar names

Roze is unrelated to Roze AI Inc., a South Korean maker of AI-based fire detection and disaster prevention products that registered shares for a direct listing on Nasdaq under the ticker RZAI in September 2026. Renaissance Capital noted that the Korean company has no connection to the SoftBank-backed Roze.[23]
