Marketing ChatGPT Plugins were a wide group of third-party extensions for ChatGPT that helped marketers research audiences, draft content, build websites, and connect ChatGPT to existing martech stacks. They were available through the ChatGPT plugin store from the public rollout to ChatGPT Plus subscribers on May 12, 2023, until OpenAI deprecated the plugin program on April 9, 2024. Marketing was one of the most populated filters in the store, with at least two dozen entries that contemporary writeups recommended. The category overlapped with the narrower advertising, SEO, and social media categories, and several plugins appeared under more than one filter at the same time.
OpenAI introduced the plugin protocol on March 23, 2023, with twelve third-party launch partners (Expedia, FiscalNote, Instacart, Kayak, Klarna, Milo, OpenTable, Shopify, Slack, Speak, Wolfram, and Zapier) and three first-party plugins for browsing, code interpretation, and retrieval. None of the launch partners were marketing tools per se, but several touched marketing in practice. Klarna's plugin returned curated product picks, Shopify exposed merchants' catalogs to ChatGPT, and Zapier opened the door to thousands of CRM, email, and analytics integrations. Once the plugin store opened to all ChatGPT Plus subscribers in May 2023, dedicated marketing plugins began appearing weekly.

By the time the program closed, most marketing functions had migrated to Custom GPTs in the GPT Store, to apps calling the GPT-4 API directly, or to native AI inside platforms such as HubSpot, Shopify, and Klarna.

Unlike the strict advertising category, the marketing category was fuzzy. Search Engine Journal's mid-2023 round-up identified twenty-five plugins that marketing teams were actively recommending. Other industry lists from the same period reached similar counts (twenty-four to twenty-six entries) using slightly different boundaries.
The table below covers plugins that were verifiably published during the plugins beta and that fell within the marketing scope. Each entry was confirmed against the developer's own listing, an archived plugin manifest, or contemporaneous trade-press coverage. Plugins that were primarily SEO, paid-search, or general-utility tools are listed under the related categories rather than here, even when marketers used them.

Speedy Marketing, by SpeedyBrand, was one of the highest-profile content plugins in the marketing filter. The archived plugin manifest at api.speedybrand.io/.well-known/ai-plugin.json lists the human-readable name as "Speedy Marketing" and the model-facing description as a tool for generating an SEO blog and social media post for a website. The plugin asked for a website URL, then crawled the site to learn the brand's products and tone before drafting blog posts and short-form social copy in that voice. SpeedyBrand pitched the plugin at Shopify stores, ecommerce websites, and small businesses, and the company published step-by-step activation guides during summer 2023.
ChatSpot was developed by HubSpot under the direction of the company's chief technology officer, Dharmesh Shah. It was first announced on March 6, 2023, as a standalone alpha web product, then released as a ChatGPT plugin once the plugin protocol opened. Inside ChatGPT it gave marketers natural-language access to HubSpot CRM data, search marketing data, company research, competitive analysis, and domain information. ChatSpot was free to use but required a HubSpot account. Practical workflows included pulling a contact segment definition, generating a domain summary for a prospect, requesting suggested keywords for a product page, and asking for a competitive scan before a campaign launch.
Zapier was a launch partner on March 23, 2023, and remained one of the most widely installed plugins for marketing teams throughout the beta. It gave ChatGPT access to thousands of actions across more than five thousand apps, including HubSpot, Salesforce, Mailchimp, Google Sheets, Gmail, and Slack. Marketers used it to log new leads, send outreach emails, post campaign updates to Slack, or move records between tools. Zapier published a help-center notice in early 2024 confirming that new conversations using its ChatGPT plugin would be disabled on March 1, 2024, ahead of OpenAI's April 9, 2024 cutoff.
Klarna and Shopify were launch partners on March 23, 2023. Klarna's plugin returned curated product recommendations with links into the Klarna search and compare tool, paired with the company's spring 2023 ads-manager rollout. Marketing teams running ecommerce ad budgets used the plugin as a soft-discovery surface for products inside Klarna's network. Shopify's plugin let ChatGPT search products across Shopify-powered stores, which marketers used for catalog research on competitors' stores and as a recommendation interface for their own storefronts.
A second cluster of marketing plugins focused on generating ready-to-publish creative. B12 AI Websites generated full marketing sites with scheduling and payments built in. Visla and Video AI by InVideo turned text prompts into short videos with stock footage and voiceover, used by social and content teams. Speechki produced narrated audio from text. Show Me Diagrams generated inline diagrams that planners pasted into briefs and decks.
Marketers chained plugins in three repeatable patterns.
All three workflows leaned heavily on prompt engineering. Plugin schemas were lean, and most of the value came from how the operator framed the conversation across multiple plugin calls.
The marketing filter sat at the center of a cluster of overlapping categories. Boundaries were never enforced strictly, and many plugins were tagged twice or filed wherever the developer expected the most installs.

ChatSpot was tagged under both marketing and advertising. Speedy Marketing appeared under content marketing and SEO. Zapier was filed under marketing in most third-party round-ups but was technically a general-utility plugin. Counts ranged from twenty to thirty depending on the source.
Marketing plugins inherited the same constraints that pushed OpenAI to wind the program down across every category, plus a few that bit harder in marketing.
After the plugin shutdown on April 9, 2024, the marketing surface migrated along three tracks.
Marketing-category plugins were the first general-purpose chat extensions that mainstream marketing teams could install and use without writing code. They demonstrated several patterns (URL-to-content, CRM in chat, chat-to-Zap workflow) that became the default shape of AI marketing assistants over the following two years. The category never reached the polish of the systems that replaced it, but it shaped the playbooks that GPTs, native martech AI, and standalone marketing apps later built on.
