Make one article better

A precise correction with a useful source is a good first contribution. You do not need an account to report an issue or edit an article.

1. 1. Find something specific to improve

   Open an article and select a sentence, then choose Report selected text. You can also use Report issue in the article toolbar. Say what looks wrong, which section it is in, and what source supports the correction.

2. 2. Make a small, sourced edit

   Choose Edit article. Preserve information that is still correct, write in neutral language, cite the relevant primary source, and explain the change in the edit summary. Avoid promotional claims and unsupported speculation.

3. 3. Understand what happens next

   Your edit goes live when you publish and appears in the article history. Editors check every edit from readers and new accounts and revert vandalism, promotion and unsourced claims; repeated abuse leads to a block. Edits that change the title, remove a large part of an article or add many links wait for an editor first, and so do new articles. An edit is not a new fact-check stamp.
