Meta Adventurer
Meta Adventurer is a rectangular pair of camera-equipped AI glasses in Meta's own-brand Meta Glasses line, which Meta makes with the eyewear group EssilorLuxottica. Meta introduced it on 23 June 2026 as a simple rectangle meant to suit many looks. Prices start at $299, and it is the only one of the line's three launch frames that Meta makes in two sizes, Standard and Large [1][2]. Its camera, speakers, microphones and battery match the other Meta Glasses frames, and UploadVR and Engadget said it offers the features of Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) at an $80 discount [3][4][5].
The Adventurer and its launch siblings, the Meta Fury and the Kylie Jenner-designed Meta Starfire, came with Meta AI running on Muse Spark, the first model from Meta Superintelligence Labs; Meta later said this applied from launch day only in the US and Canada [1]. At Meta Connect 2026, held on 23 September 2026, Meta added two Adventurer variants: a $399 LISA Edition created with the Blackpink member LISA, and a black-framed version with grey lenses at $249 [6]. Meta called that price "our most accessible price yet" [6]. The $249 model swaps the foldable charging case for a plug-in case [13][3]. It opened for pre-order on Meta.com that day and is scheduled to go on sale on 23 October 2026 in every country that sells Meta Glasses [6].
Announcement and release
Meta Glasses launched on 23 June 2026 as a joint line from Meta and EssilorLuxottica, with the Adventurer, the bolder Fury and the Starfire, a slim oval style that Kylie Jenner helped design [1]. Meta said the line built on "all the technology and features of the world's best-selling AI glasses" at a lower starting price, and it went on sale that day on Meta.com and at retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, LensCrafters and Sunglass Hut in 17 countries [1][7].
In a press Q&A reported by Gizmodo, Meta's chief technology officer, Andrew Bosworth, said that reaching more people depends on price as well as design, and that buyers of an iconic Ray-Ban Wayfarer pay a premium for it [8]. UploadVR reported that the Adventurer and Fury have "the same chipset, camera, speakers, battery, storage, and connectivity as the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 glasses" and attributed the $80 difference to "their lack of the premium branding" [4].
The line went on sale in Japan on 26 August 2026 at prices from ¥50,600 [9]. At Connect, Meta said Meta Glasses were available from that day in Mexico, Singapore, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates, with Brazil to follow [6].
Design and sizes
Meta describes the Adventurer as a classic rectangular silhouette "designed for everyday wear", and Engadget's Karissa Bell called it "a Wayfarer-esque design" [3][5]. Android Central said it "brings the thinnest frames yet to Meta AI Glasses", and Gizmodo noted that it has thinner arms and a much lower footprint than the Fury [11][8].
Meta lists these dimensions for the three Adventurer frames [3][12]:
| Measurement | Standard | Large | LISA Edition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hinge to hinge | 129 mm | 134 mm | 129 mm |
| Lens height | 37 mm | 39 mm | 37 mm |
| Lens width | 49 mm | 52 mm | 49 mm |
| Bridge width | 22 mm | 22 mm | 22 mm |
| Temple length | 150 mm | 155 mm | 145 mm |
| Weight (glasses) | 53.8 g | 54.8 g | 53.8 g |
| Bridge fit | High | High | Low |
The nose pads adjust three ways, with 15 degrees of travel across three cranks, according to Meta; the temple tips are adjustable, and the over-extension hinges come from the Ray-Ban Meta Optics styles [3][4][11]. A customizable action button sits on the top of the right temple next to the capture button; Android Central liked the button but found it "just too easy to press the wrong button" [10][11].
The standard configurations ship with a foldable 203 g charging case similar to the one sold with Meta Ray-Ban Display, with a soft outer layer that can be swapped for other styles; spare cases cost $89 [4][10][3].

VR & AR Wiki's Meta Adventurer article lists the full hardware specifications.
Meta does not name the processor on its specification or comparison pages [3][2]. UploadVR reported the same chipset as Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), and Engadget quoted Meta's Ming Hua as saying the line used "the same hardware platform as our best-selling AI glasses" [4][15]. Android Central instead reported the newer chipset introduced with Meta Ray-Ban Display, but found no tangible benefit beyond some marginally faster Meta AI conversations [10][11].
Meta's own comparison chart shows where the Adventurer and the Gen 2 Wayfarer differ [2]:
| Meta Adventurer | Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) Wayfarer | |
|---|---|---|
| US starting price | $299; $249 with plug-in case [3][13] | $379 at launch in September 2025 [16] |

Engadget tested a Fury, which carries the same battery rating, and got "closer to four and a half hours" with steady music playback, against Meta's claim of more than eight [2][5]. Bell put the Fury at 60 g, against the 53.8 g and 54.8 g Meta lists for the two Adventurer sizes, and Android Central found that Meta Glasses start to feel heavy after about half an hour [5][3][11].
Meta AI and Muse Spark
Assistant and model
Wearers reach Meta AI by saying "Hey Meta" or with the action button. Out of the box the button opens a Meta AI conversation, and owners can set it to start a capture mode, live translation, music or a call to the Be My Eyes volunteer service instead [10][7]. Owners manage the glasses through the Meta AI phone app, which Meta says is also where they adjust settings, share photos and talk to the assistant [3].
Muse Spark, announced by Meta Superintelligence Labs on 8 April 2026, is described by Meta as "a natively multimodal reasoning model with support for tool-use, visual chain of thought, and multi-agent orchestration" [17]. Meta said that with it, the assistant on glasses "will be able to better see and understand the world around you" [18]. Meta Glasses were the first of its glasses to launch with it; a note added to the launch announcement on 23 July 2026 said this applied from day one in the US and Canada, "rolling out in more markets over time" [1]. The v26 update, available from the week of 29 June 2026 for Meta Glasses, Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta, called Muse Spark "next-gen Meta AI on your glasses delivering smarter answers, with enhanced visual perception" [19]. Meta's glasses release notes and store pages name the model only as Muse Spark, with no version number; in July Meta said Muse Spark 1.1 powered the Meta AI app and meta.ai [19][20].
Meta's product page lists help "based on what you see and say", local recommendations drawn "from real reviews and up-to-date info", live translation, hands-free calls and video calls on WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger, live location sharing, and a Spotify-powered "Music match" feature [3]. Dynamic photo, which captures several frames per shot and recommends the best one, arrived alongside Photo Ultra HDR in the v26 update [19]. Android Central reported a food-logging feature that estimates calories from a photo of a meal, which it later described as being in beta testing for some users [10][11]. For blind and low-vision users, Meta lists enhanced AI responses, reading text verbatim and hands-free video calls to Be My Eyes volunteers [14].
Translation and navigation
Meta lists 20 languages for live translation on Meta Glasses: English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, Finnish, Greek, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Swedish, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese [7]. Fourteen of these arrived with the v26 update [19]. English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and German can be used offline after a language pack is downloaded; the others need a Wi-Fi or mobile data connection, and Android Central reported that the new languages rely on cloud processing [21][10].
Pedestrian navigation, promised at launch as "coming soon" for displayless glasses, has since arrived [1][24]. Gizmodo reported on 31 August 2026 that it came with version 128 of the glasses' firmware, and 9to5Google described v128 as broadly available by early October [22][23]. Wearers ask Meta AI to navigate to a nearby place and hear turn-by-turn directions, with a companion map in the Meta AI app [24]. Meta's help page lists Meta Glasses among the supported models and gives coverage as all of the US and Puerto Rico, all of Canada, and the cities of Paris, Hamburg, Rome, Milan, Naples, London and Manchester [24].
On-device and cloud processing
According to Meta's engineers, simple requests such as placing a call or answering a text hands-free are handled entirely on the glasses, while more advanced AI features require far larger models than a pair of glasses can carry and run in the cloud [25]. Meta announced at Connect that it would bring Private Processing, its confidential-computing system, to its AI glasses, running models inside confidential virtual machines "such that even Meta cannot access your data" for workloads such as streaming transcription and long-term recall [25]. Meta listed it as "coming soon" without a date [26].
Unavailable and upcoming features
Conversation focus, which amplifies the voice of the person in front of the wearer, appears in the shared v26 release notes, but Meta's help page for the feature says it is not available on Meta Glasses [19][27].
Meta says hearing enhancement, unveiled at Connect, is cleared by the FDA and meant for people 18 and older whose hearing loss is perceived as mild to moderate. US availability is planned for later in 2026; owners of "supported AI glasses" would buy it for $149.99 or get it with a Meta One subscription [28]. The written announcement did not name the models, but Mark Zuckerberg said in the keynote that "hearing enhancement is coming first to Meta Glasses", according to HearingTracker [28][29].
Meta also plans to put Muse, the personal AI agent it released in September 2026, on its glasses [26]. The Connect round-up gave the timing as "in the coming months" and said wearers would call up the agent by saying its name, after which it could act on whatever they are looking at [28]. Meta's examples include booking an appointment or checking flight prices while driving, cooking or running [26]. UploadVR reported that Zuckerberg said "in the coming weeks" on stage [30].

Standard Adventurer
The Adventurer launched in eight frame and lens combinations, each in both sizes, a lineup unchanged in Meta's US store in mid-October 2026 [4][3].
| Frame | Lenses | US price |
|---|---|---|
| Classic Black | Clear | $299 |
| Classic Tortoise | Clear | $299 |
| Classic Black | Brown | $299 |

Adventurer with plug-in case
The $249 model pairs a Classic Black frame with grey sun lenses and comes in both sizes [13]. Meta's product page calls it "the same Meta Adventurer, with a smaller case that charges your glasses when plugged in instead of on the go", and its FAQ says "the only difference is the included charging case" [13][3]. The plug-in case weighs 90 g against 203 g for the foldable case, Meta lists no battery capacity for it, and it is not sold separately [13][3]. MIXED called the model "a different pair rather than a cut on the old one", since the $299 styles kept their foldable case and price [32]. In mid-October 2026 it was still listed as a pre-order with an estimated delivery date of 23 October, while Meta's Meta Glasses page advertised the line as "Starting at $249" [13][14].
Adventurer LISA Edition
Meta Glasses by LISA, a collection designed with the Blackpink member, has two frames: this one and a Meta Capri LISA Edition with an Eclipse cat-eye frame and grey lenses, also from $399 [6][12][31]. The Adventurer version pairs a Moonlit Sky frame (semi-translucent, in Engadget's description) with Blush lenses [6][31]. Meta's lineup blog says the star motif appears on the case and the temple tips, that the case charms are modeled on LISA's pets, and that the glasses unlock "unique digital photocards" [33]. Meta's store says each pair comes with one collectible charm, sold blind-box style from a set of six designs, along with a quilted star charging case and bespoke packaging with an authentication card [12][2]. Meta says its technical features are the same as the standard Adventurer's, and that it accepts single-vision, progressive and Transitions prescription lenses [12][3].
Pricing by market
| Market (Meta Store, mid-October 2026) | Clear or brown lenses | Polarized grey | Transitions | Plug-in case | LISA Edition |

When the model was announced, MIXED pointed out that Meta had published only a US price [32]. By mid-October the regional stores listed it as a pre-order at the prices above [34][35][36][37][38][39].
Availability
The Adventurer has been sold since 23 June 2026 in the 17 launch countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States [7]. Japan followed on 26 August 2026, and Mexico, Singapore, South Korea and the UAE on 23 September 2026, according to Meta's newsroom, although Meta's Connect round-up listed the UAE with Brazil as "coming soon" [9][6][28]. In mid-October 2026 the "Where to buy" answer on Meta's Adventurer page named 22 countries, the 17 launch markets plus Japan, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea and the UAE; Brazil was not among them [3].
Meta sells prescription versions on Meta.com [3] and began accepting prescription orders in Canada on 23 September 2026 [33]. At launch it said Meta.com orders covered -6 to +2.25, within the frame's full -12 to +2.25 range, and that its Rx Lens Swap program lets buyers have an optician fit lenses later without voiding the warranty [7].
Reception
In Engadget's 20 July 2026 review of the line, which tested a Fury and scored 8 out of 10, Bell concluded that the Adventurer and Fury let buyers "get glasses with the latest specs and features for at least $80 less" than comparable Ray-Ban models, at the cost of frames that feel "a little less polished" [5]. Android Central's Nick Sutrich, writing on 9 July, recommended the line over the branded models for most buyers, while noting a narrower prescription range than the Ray-Ban and Oakley models and that, unlike the Ray-Ban Meta Optics frames, it lacks interchangeable nose pads [11]. Gizmodo's James Pero found the Adventurer and the Starfire the most accessible of the three styles [8].
Reviewers were generally positive about the assistant but noted errors. Bell found that the Muse Spark update "has generally led to a smoother and more capable assistant" [5]. At launch, Gizmodo found Muse Spark "snappier than the old Meta AI" but said it still sometimes misunderstood what the wearer was looking at, and Engadget's Cherlynn Low reported accurate answers alongside repeated misidentification of her camera lens [8][15].
Privacy
The Adventurer carries the same white capture LED as Meta's other camera glasses; it blinks during photo and video capture and cannot be switched off, and Meta says the camera is disabled if it detects that the LED has been covered or tampered with [9][40]. Photos and videos stay on the glasses until the wearer imports them [40]. In her review, Engadget's Bell noted that Meta had announced a mandatory firmware update for all of its glasses to disable the camera if the LED is tampered with [5]. The broader debate is covered in smart glasses privacy.
