Meta Nova is a round, Pantos-style pair of camera-equipped AI glasses in Meta's own-brand Meta Glasses line, made with EssilorLuxottica. The Nova and the cat-eye Meta Capri were the two new shapes Meta showed at Meta Connect 2026 on 23 September 2026 [1][2]. Meta's round-up gave fit as the reason, saying the shapes would let the line "fit even more faces comfortably" [2]. Meta's comparison page describes it as "a classic round frame available in small and standard sizes for a customizable fit," and it is the only Meta Glasses frame sold in a Small size [5]. It starts at $299 in the US [4]. The Nova has the same hardware as the other Meta Glasses frames, including a 12-megapixel camera, open-ear speakers, six microphones and no display [4][5]. In the US and Canada it runs the Meta AI assistant powered by Muse Spark [11][13].

Announcement and release

Meta Glasses launched on 23 June 2026 with three frames: Meta Adventurer, Meta Fury and the Kylie Jenner frame sold as Meta Starfire [5][11]. Three months later Meta's Connect newsroom post announced the Nova in a single line: "We're now expanding the collection with two new styles, Capri and Nova" [1]. Neither that post nor the event round-up gave a separate on-sale date or price for the Nova [1][2]. By 15 October 2026 Meta's US store sold it from $299 in two sizes [4].

Connect coverage gave the Nova a sentence or two. Engadget wrote that it "shares similarities with Ray-Ban's Headliner style" [6], a frame Meta sells in its Ray-Ban Meta range [5]. The Next Web called it "a classic Pantos" [7], and Android Central, which tried the new frames at the event, said the Nova "has nicely rounded frames" [8]. Gizmodo and MIXED listed the Capri and Nova as the two new styles in Meta's first-party line [9][10].

Design and sizes

"Pantos" appears in the store page title, "Meta Nova AI Glasses - Pantos Frame," while the specification sheet gives the shape as "Round" and the comparison page calls it a round frame; the FAQ uses both terms, describing "a pantos (round) frame shape, offering a classic, gender-neutral silhouette" [4][5]. The store describes "smooth, contoured frames" that "blend vintage charm with powerful Meta AI" [4].

The Nova comes in Small and Standard sizes, both with a high-bridge fit [4][5]. Every other Meta Glasses frame on Meta's comparison page comes in one size except the Adventurer, which comes in Standard and Large [5]. The Standard Nova measures 124 mm from hinge to hinge and the Small version 118 mm [4], against 128 mm for the Capri [24] and 131 mm for the Fury [25].

Meta lists the frame material as "Injected." Like the rest of the line, the Nova has three-way adjustable nose pads, adjustable temple tips and overextension hinges [4][5]. It is sold in four frame colors, Classic Black, Honey Tortoise, Sage and Sandstone [4]. The FAQ says buyers can choose the lens color and case color to make a personal combination [4]. Meta's Mix & Match program, announced at Connect, covers frame, lenses and case color online or in Meta Lab stores, although the Connect round-up described it as a US program [1][2][3].

VR & AR Wiki's Meta Nova article lists the full hardware specifications.

Meta lists the same electronics for the Nova as for its other Meta Glasses frames and does not name the processor [4][5].

Meta's FAQ says prescription Nova glasses can be bought directly from Meta.com only in the US, and that a frame damaged while an optician fits prescription lenses qualifies for a free replacement [4]. Meta said on 23 September 2026 that prescription orders on Meta.com had also opened in Canada [3]. The US warranty is 12 months from EssilorLuxottica [4].

Meta AI and Muse Spark

Muse Spark, which Meta announced on 8 April 2026 as the first model from Meta Superintelligence Labs, became the model behind Meta AI on Meta Glasses when the line launched in June [11][17]. Meta's v26 release notes for Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta and Meta Glasses, rolling out from the week of 29 June 2026, describe it as "next-gen Meta AI on your glasses" with "enhanced visual perception" [13]. Meta said in July that this version was available on Meta Glasses in the US and Canada and would reach other markets over time [11].

Meta's store lists the same assistant features on the Nova as on its other frames. Wearers can ask questions by voice or about what the camera sees, get local recommendations drawn from reviews, take photos with dynamic photo (which captures several frames and suggests the best), make calls and WhatsApp, Instagram or Messenger video calls, share their live location, and ask Spotify-powered "Music match" for a song that suits the view [4]. The action button gives quick access to the camera or Meta AI [4], and the comparison page lists voice integration with Apple Music, Amazon Music, Audible and Shazam [5].

Meta Glasses translate conversations in 20 languages [12]. Meta's help page marks six of them (English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and German) as usable offline after a language pack is downloaded, and the remaining 14 need a Wi-Fi or mobile data connection [14]. Meta's November 2025 post on the feature for Ray-Ban Meta said the offline mode ran entirely on the glasses, from speech recognition to translated speech [15]. More generally, Meta's engineering team says requests such as placing a call or answering a text are handled on the device, while more advanced features need models too large for glasses and have to run in the cloud [18]. Conversation Focus, a voice amplification feature listed in the v26 notes, is not available on Meta Glasses, according to its help page [13][16].

On 15 October 2026 v26 was still the newest entry on Meta's glasses release notes page [13], and several of the glasses features Meta announced at Connect were scheduled for later. Glasses support for Muse, the personal AI agent Meta released earlier in September, came with a timeline but no model list: Meta's round-up promised it "in the coming months" [2][19]. Wearers would summon the agent by name and could ask it to act on whatever is in view [2]. Meta's examples included booking appointments, checking flight prices, guiding workouts and buying products the wearer sees [19], and UploadVR reported that the agent runs in a private cloud virtual machine [20]. Hearing enhancement, which Meta describes as FDA-cleared software for adults "with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss," is due in the US later in 2026 for "supported AI glasses," at $149.99 or included with a Meta One subscription [2]. Meta did not list the supported models, but Engadget reported that Meta Glasses would get it first [21]. Dolby Atmos video capture, a landscape crop mode, audio balance and mono audio settings, and Private Processing for AI requests were also announced [18][19].

The Nova was also listed on Meta's stores in eight other markets on 16 October 2026 [22]. Four of them (Singapore, South Korea, Mexico and the UAE) were added at Connect on 23 September 2026, according to Meta's newsroom post, which named Brazil as the next market; the Connect round-up put the UAE under "coming soon" instead [1][2].

In the UK the polarized version costs £299 and the Transitions versions £339 [22].

Privacy

Like the rest of Meta's camera glasses, the Nova raises the questions covered under smart glasses privacy. Meta describes privacy settings and "built-in safeguards to respect the privacy of people around you" for the Meta Glasses line [11]. Android Central reported that an early July 2026 software update for all Meta glasses permanently disables the camera if the LED is tampered with [23].
