AgiBot A3
AgiBot A3, also marketed in China as Zhiyuan Expedition A3, is a full-size bipedal humanoid robot from AgiBot. The standard A3 is aimed primarily at performances, exhibitions, guided interaction, education, and research. It is not the same product as A3 Ultra, and its specifications should not be combined with those of AgiBot's A2 or X2 robots.[1][2]
AgiBot's English product page headlines the robot "Silicon-based star born for the stage" and gives it the product name "AGIBOT A3 | Brilliant Master".[1] Chinese coverage of the launch used the phrase 文武双全, roughly "accomplished in both the literary and the martial arts", to describe the same positioning.[14] The company formally launched A3 on April 13, 2026 and announced the first commercial deliveries the same day.[8][14]
Product identity and status
Chinese business publication Jiemian reported that AgiBot publicly introduced Expedition A3 on February 13, 2026, presenting it as a production-oriented full-size humanoid rather than a laboratory prototype.[7] AgiBot included A3 in its English-language product announcement at the company's April 17 partner conference. That announcement described the robot as a customizable platform for interactive settings and emphasized stage performance, education, and customer engagement.[3]
Public demonstrations came before the formal launch. On February 7, 2026 AgiBot staged AgiBot Night, a 60-minute gala in Shanghai in which 16 humanoid robots performed music, dance, and comedy alongside human performers, with the company's G2 humanoids and D1 quadrupeds in supporting acts. A week later a video circulated showing a new-generation full-size AgiBot humanoid executing flying kicks and controlled mid-air steps, which AgiBot said was filmed in real conditions without CGI. Interesting Engineering, reporting on February 16, identified the robot as Expedition A3 and listed pre-release figures of 3 kg payload per arm, a tool centre point speed of 2 m/s, and a dual-battery torso rated for up to eight hours.[18] None of those three numbers survived to the shipping product: the May 2026 user manual documents 5 kg per arm and a 10-hour rating, and gives no tool centre point speed at all.[2]
Commercial activity began quickly. On April 13, IT Home reported that AgiBot had handed the first commercial A3 units to Qihong Cultural Tourism and Xiuka Technology. The customers planned to use them at scenic sites and cultural venues in Qidong for guiding visitors, immersive performances, and venue operations. These were announced deployment plans, not independently measured operating results.[8] AgiBot later presented A3 in London on June 30 as its European debut and placed an A3 alongside A2, X2, and D1 robots in a public-facing showcase at the Smart City retail venue in Milton Keynes.[9]
IT Home's launch report the same day set out the technical claims AgiBot made for the robot: self-developed joints on a new-generation architecture, 150 A total peak current and 12 kW instantaneous power, magnesium alloy replacing aluminium in the main body with titanium alloy reinforcing stress concentration points, a mass cut to 55 kg for a 0.218 kW/kg power-to-weight ratio that AgiBot compared to a million-yuan supercar, backflips and "aerial walking", native support for AgiBot's LinkCraft platform, a nominal 10-hour endurance, 10-second battery swapping, a 1:9 head-to-body ratio, factory-standard UWB centimetre-level positioning for hundred-robot formation dances, shoulder touch sensing, single-person carry and transport in an ordinary SUV, a three-year design life, and 92 factory tests. IT Home noted that AgiBot's website carried no price for A3 at the time of writing.[14]
AgiBot showed A3 again on May 12, 2026 at the first Hong Kong Embodied Intelligence Industry Summit, held together with its 2026 partner conference in Hong Kong, where the Lingxi X2 and Genie G2 also appeared. Co-founder, president and chief technology officer Peng Zhihui presented A3 there as "positioned as a stage star in the culture, entertainment and commercial field" and "currently the most competitive full-size humanoid robot in that field". That is a vendor claim; no independent comparative test of A3 against rival full-size humanoids has been published.[15][21]
A3 belongs to AgiBot's full-size Expedition line. The company's Chinese materials call it the third generation of that line, while the product page says it inherits the reliability program used for AgiBot A2. AgiBot claims A3 passed 92 automotive-style tests and has a design life of up to three years, but it has not published independent durability results supporting those figures.[1][4] A2 specifications do not automatically apply to A3.[5]
AgiBot X2 belongs to the separate, smaller Lingxi product family. Its product documentation includes configurations with sensors and autonomous charging that are not listed for the standard A3.[6] AgiBot also unveiled A3 Ultra at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, in a company release datelined July 18, 2026, as a separate 1.74 m, 60 kg, 51-DOF model with LiDAR, RGB-D cameras, and Nvidia Thor compute.[12][13] None of those A3 Ultra specifications are used for the standard A3 described here.

The A3 user manual gives the following specifications for the standard robot:[2]

The manual says the wider A3 series can span 31 to 57 degrees of freedom depending on model and configuration, but it documents 31 active degrees of freedom for the standard A3. It does not identify a 57-DOF standard configuration. It also specifies silicone hands and silicone fists. The packing list describes a pair of silicone hands fixed in a fist gesture, and the manual gives no actuated finger count or dexterous-hand payload for the standard robot.[2] The shipped accessories are a battery charger, a magnetic charging connector, a wireless remote control, and a protective helmet.[2]
AgiBot says the body combines magnesium alloy, titanium alloy, and flexible TPU parts. Its peak electrical figures are 150 A and 12 kW, which the company expresses as a power-to-weight ratio of 0.218 kW/kg.[1] These are peak vendor specifications, not typical continuous power consumption. Likewise, the 5 m/s running figure is labeled as a maximum, while the manual places normal daily walking below 1.2 m/s.[2] The mass converts to about 121 lb, consistent with the "120 lb" used in AgiBot's English-language promotion, and 12 kW divided by 55 kg gives the quoted 0.218 kW/kg, so the three headline numbers are internally consistent rather than independent confirmations of each other.[1][27]

The manual publishes a full set of joint limits, noting that they are calculated from structural design parameters, that individual units may differ, and that the values are for reference only:[2]

Three waist degrees of freedom with a ±150 degree yaw are the mechanical basis for the "flexible waist" that pre-launch coverage highlighted.[18] The structural limit is not the working envelope: AgiBot's own motion-authoring documentation restricts Expedition-series waist rotation far below it, as set out below.[17]
Battery and endurance
The power system uses two battery packs with a combined stated capacity of 1,152 Wh. The manual lists direct charging and battery replacement, a charging time of no more than two hours, and a nominal ten-hour battery life. Its detailed description divides that total into six hours of standing operation and more than four hours of continuous walking. A separate specification note says the ten-hour result was measured with standing and walking in a 1:1 ratio and warns that speed and load affect endurance.[2] The two descriptions do not provide a complete standardized test protocol, so ten hours should be treated as a manufacturer rating rather than a guaranteed field result.
The product page claims a battery can be exchanged in ten seconds and promotes successive hot swaps as a way to keep the robot available around the clock.[1] This does not mean one charge lasts 24 hours. It assumes charged replacement packs, an operator or support process to exchange them, and time for depleted packs to recharge.
The manual adds practical constraints that the marketing figure omits. Charging input is 110-220 V. The robot can be charged as a whole through a magnetic connector at the charging port, or a pack can be removed and charged on its own with the magnetic adapter section separated from the charger. A single pack can be pulled either with the robot shut down or with it powered on and standing, but while only one pack is in place the robot is restricted from moving, so a swap is not something that happens mid-performance.[2] Packs shipped in storage and transport mode must be woken with a short press followed by a long press of the pack power button before first use.[2]
AgiBot's public endurance numbers do not agree with one another. The product page and the user manual both describe the 1,152 Wh dual-pack system as rated at ten hours.[1][2] At the Hong Kong summit on May 12, 2026, Peng Zhihui said A3 "uses a dual-battery design supporting hot swap, with a single battery lasting 14 hours, which allows 24-hour uninterrupted operation".[15] Zhongguancun Online's report of the same event repeated the 14-hour per-pack figure and framed it as the basis for round-the-clock display use.[21] Fourteen hours from one of two packs in an 1,152 Wh system cannot be reconciled with a ten-hour rating for both packs together, and AgiBot has not published a test protocol that would explain the gap. February 2026 pre-release coverage gave a third figure, up to eight hours.[18] The ten-hour rating is the one that appears in the documentation shipped with the product, and this article treats it as the reference value.
Sensors, compute, and interaction
The standard A3 perception stack is narrower than some other AgiBot configurations. Its manual lists a binocular RGB camera, GPS, UWB positioning, and shoulder touch sensors. It explicitly shows no 3D LiDAR, no RGB-D camera for manipulation or terrain perception, no panoramic RGB camera, and no GPS RTK receiver. The basic compute system consists of two Rockchip RK3588 boards, one accessible through the torso maintenance port and one through the head port. The advanced compute-board field is blank.[2]
The manual's sensor field-of-view table lists a single entry for the standard A3, the interactive binocular camera, described as supporting visual recognition and response in human-robot interaction. It documents no depth, LiDAR, or terrain-perception coverage for this model.[2] Three user-accessible interfaces are published: a waist maintenance port on USB Type-A 2.0 for debugging and further development of the torso motion control unit, a head maintenance port on USB Type-C for the head unit and for connecting a microphone receiver, and a USB Type-C power interface supplying 5 V at 3 A to charge accessories such as the remote control. Both maintenance ports address RK3588 boards, which places on-robot processing in the class of an edge computing module rather than a large accelerator.[2]
For interaction, A3 has front and rear eight-microphone arrays, speakers, a curved face display, omnidirectional indicator lights, and shoulder touch sensing. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G, and 5G. AgiBot claims the standard UWB system can locate one unit within plus or minus 10 cm and coordinate more than 100 robots for synchronized performances.[1][2] Public evidence demonstrates formation-oriented positioning as a product feature, but no independent benchmark of a 100-unit A3 fleet was found.
The supplied wireless remote control runs about four hours on a charge and takes three to four hours to recharge, and the manual warns that it must not be allowed to run flat while the robot is in a motion mode, because a failed mode switch can lead to a fall.[2] Holding L1, L2, R1 and R2 together for more than half a second triggers a soft emergency stop.[2]
AgiBot's LinkCraft platform is used to create, upload, and download motions, while LinkSoul supports character and interaction configuration. The manual documents voice-triggered actions, over-the-air updates, a wireless remote controller, debugging ports, and interfaces for secondary development.[1][2] These tools make A3 an embodied AI development and performance platform, but their presence does not by itself establish autonomous operation.
Software stack and motion authoring
LinkCraft (灵创平台) is the software that AgiBot ties most closely to A3. AgiBot announced it on October 24, 2025 as a zero-code robot content creation platform and opened a free public beta at linkcraft.agibot.com. The announced feature set is motion imitation, in which a user uploads a video of a person and the platform converts the movement into a robot-executable action script; voice performance, which generates synchronized motion and facial expression from uploaded audio or text with selectable voice types; and timeline orchestration, which lets separate action clips be sequenced and blended like video editing. AgiBot said the platform shipped with more than 180 standardized action sets across 11 scenarios and 140 expression templates. Peng Zhihui, quoted in the announcement, described the workflow as "simply upload a video of human movements, and LinkCraft handles the rest".[16] This is an imitation learning product in the loose sense of retargeting captured human motion onto a robot body, not a policy-learning system.
The July 2026 English promotion of A3 says the robot has "native LinkCraft support for interactive motion creation and replication", and IT Home's launch report used the corresponding Chinese phrase 原生适配, meaning adapted at the factory rather than added later.[14][27] AgiBot has not published what "native" changes at the robot end, for example whether motion scripts execute on board or are streamed, so the word should be read as positioning rather than as an architectural claim. The published LinkCraft manual, dated November 11, 2025, still lists compatibility with the Lingxi X2, A2 and G2 and describes device playback for X2 only, which predates the A3 launch; the same manual carries motion rules written specifically for Expedition-series robots, so the platform does cover the line A3 belongs to.[17]
Those Expedition-specific rules are the most concrete published statement about what A3 can actually be made to do through the authoring pipeline. For both uploaded video and BVH motion files, LinkCraft asks users to avoid jumping, defined as both feet leaving the ground or both heels rising at once, to avoid excessive speed and sudden acceleration, and to avoid limb occlusion. For Expedition models it adds three further limits: avoid large waist movements, with turning to left or right not exceeding half a turn and a note that the maximum is about 45 degrees while slightly squatting and that the robot cannot turn at all while standing upright; avoid leaning backwards and avoid forward lean beyond about 30 degrees; and avoid deep squats, keeping the knees only slightly bent and the squat depth to roughly 30 cm.[17] Read against the ±150 degree waist yaw in the hardware specification, the authoring envelope is much tighter than the joint range, which is a useful corrective to demonstration footage.
LinkSoul (灵心) is the companion platform AgiBot names for building character robots, covering appearance shell, colour scheme, and personality configuration.[1][2][14]
AgiBot's manipulation research does not obviously reach this product. The company published Genie Operator-1 (GO-1) on March 10, 2025, a generalist embodied foundation model built on a Vision-Language-Latent-Action framework that pairs a vision-language backbone with a latent planner and a diffusion action expert, trained on the AgiBot World dataset of more than one million real robot trajectories across 217 tasks and five scenario families. AgiBot reported that GO-1 raised task success from 46 percent to 78 percent against the prior state of the art in its own five-task evaluation, a company benchmark.[22] Neither the A3 product page nor the A3 user manual mentions GO-1 or AgiBot World, and the standard A3 ships with fixed silicone fists and without depth cameras, which are the end effectors and sensing that a manipulation policy assumes.[1][2] On published evidence GO-1 targets AgiBot's manipulation platforms, and the company has not documented it running on the standard A3.
Applications and deployment
AgiBot markets A3 for commercial performance, interactive entertainment, research, and education. Examples on the product page include dances, martial-arts routines, promotional appearances, live-stream characters, and theme-park guiding.[1] The company also says one person can transport the folded robot in an SUV and that it can load into and unload from its case automatically.[1][9] That packaging function is distinct from autonomous navigation or unsupervised service work.
The first reported Chinese deliveries focused on cultural tourism rather than factory manipulation.[8] At the handover, AgiBot partner and senior vice president Wang Chuang gave the first commercial A3 units to Qihong Cultural Tourism and Xiuka Technology for deployment at key scenic areas and cultural and museum venues in Qidong, covering guided tours, immersive performance, and venue operations. AgiBot said at the same event that all existing A3 orders were locked in and that first-half production could not meet demand, and Wang said A3 would focus on entertainment performance in the first half of 2026 while A3 Ultra, aimed at applications requiring 24-hour readiness, would follow in the second half.[8] Both the order-book statement and the roadmap are company claims about its own business, and the A3 Ultra half of the roadmap was met on July 18, 2026.[13]
In the United Kingdom, AgiBot described the Milton Keynes installation as a retail showcase for reception, guidance, brand promotion, and visitor engagement.[9] The venue is operated by Smart City Consultancy, and AgiBot set up a dedicated area there with A3, X2, A2, and the D1 quadruped.[9] Independent reporting from AgiBot's London event found A3 greeting guests and posing for photographs. TechRadar reported that all robots at the event were controlled by people using phones or game controllers.[10] The observed demonstration therefore supports public interaction and performance use, but not unsupervised autonomy.
AgiBot does not display a standard A3 purchase price on its product page and instead directs prospective customers to its sales team.[1] At UK APC2026 the company introduced a robot-as-a-service model with local partners, quoting rentals from £1,999 per day for humanoid robots and from £899 per day for quadrupeds, bundling hardware, embodied AI software, technical support, and local maintenance. William Shi, AgiBot's president of EU and US markets, framed the UK as a starting point for wider European deployment, and Shyen Kotecha of the channel partner Scancom described the arrangement as combining AgiBot hardware with local logistics and service.[9][20] The £1,999 figure is a starting rate for humanoid robots as a class, not an A3-specific price, so it should not be treated as the price of this model.[9]
Positioning and intended market
AgiBot's stated market for the standard A3 is entertainment and public-facing commerce rather than industrial work. The product page lists commercial performance, interactive entertainment, and research and education as the application categories, and heads the page "Silicon-based star born for the stage".[1] Peng Zhihui's framing in Hong Kong was the same: a "stage star" for the culture, entertainment and commercial field.[15] Wang Chuang's split of the 2026 roadmap put performance in the first half under A3 and 24-hour deployment work in the second half under A3 Ultra.[8]
The hardware is consistent with that positioning. A robot with fixed silicone fists, no depth cameras, no LiDAR, and no RTK receiver is not equipped for the pick-and-place work AgiBot assigns to its Genie G2 line, while the curved face screen, eight-microphone arrays, shoulder touch sensing, omnidirectional indicator lights, and factory-standard UWB formation positioning are all features that pay off in front of an audience.[2][13] The comparison AgiBot itself invites, between a 12 kW peak power figure and a supercar, is a claim about burst performance for stage motion, not about sustained work output.[14] For readers new to the category: A3 is closer to an animatronic performer that walks and improvises interaction than to a factory service robot, and its published capabilities should be read in that light.
A3 Ultra and the rest of the Expedition line
A3 Ultra is a separate product announced three months after A3, and it is where most of the sensing and compute that is missing from the standard A3 appears. AgiBot describes it as a full-size humanoid for long-duration operation in public-facing, commercial and service environments, standing 1.74 m, weighing 60 kg, with 51 active degrees of freedom, a 5 kg payload per arm, and up to eight hours of combined operating time. Its perception system is listed as 3D LiDAR, RGB-D cameras, fisheye cameras and binocular vision, with GPS, RTK and UWB positioning, and it is powered by NVIDIA Thor for high-level embodied AI processing. It supports direct charging, battery replacement, and autonomous charging.[13] eWeek, covering the launch on July 22, 2026, reproduced the same specification set and noted that the accompanying deployment metrics came from AgiBot without independent verification.[19]

The two robots therefore share a silhouette and a payload rating and little else in their sensing and compute. AgiBot announced A3 Ultra alongside the X2 Edu development platform, the G2 Max heavy-payload industrial robot, and the OmniHand 3 Ultra-M dexterous hand, and said more than 60 of its robots were operating across WAIC venues. The same release separately gives a figure of more than 30 robots deployed across key public areas of the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center and the West Bund venue, and does not reconcile the two counts.[13] Elsewhere in the family, the smaller Lingxi line covers X1 and X2, the A2 family covers A2 Ultra, A2 Max, A2 Lite and the wheeled A2-W, and Genie covers the industrial G2.
Competitive context
A3 competes in a crowded field of Chinese full-size humanoids, but its combination of a light body, a long rated endurance, and a deliberately thin perception stack is unusual. The table below draws every cell from a manufacturer product page or announcement.

Unitree's H2 is the closest size match and quotes the same 31 joints, with 360 N m peak joint torque and a stated mass around 70 kg, making A3 roughly 15 kg lighter at a similar stature.[23] Unitree's smaller G1 sits a class below at about 35 kg with 23 to 43 joint motors depending on configuration, and is the platform most often seen in the same performance and demonstration contexts as A3.[28] Booster Robotics sells T1 into competition and research, with 2 hours of walking or 4 hours of standing on a charge and an NVIDIA AGX Orin rated at 200 TOPS, where A3 lists two Rockchip RK3588 application processors, no advanced computing board, and a 10-hour rating.[2][24] Fourier Intelligence took the opposite direction with GR-3, a 55-DOF care and companionship robot with a soft shell and pressure sensing.[26]
The battery-swap comparison is the one that most often gets conflated. UBTECH's Walker S2 performs its own battery swap in about three minutes with no human intervention and no shutdown, using a dual-battery system that UBTech announced in July 2025 as an industry first, and that is what supports its 24-hour operation claim.[25] A3's ten-second swap is a human-performed exchange: fast, but it needs an operator, spare packs, and a robot that is standing still and restricted from moving on a single pack.[2] A3 Ultra, not A3, is the AgiBot model that lists autonomous charging.[13] Both are different again from what a fully autonomous humanoid robot deployment would require.
Safety and limitations
The manual imposes substantial operating constraints. A3 should be used on flat, dry, stable ground and kept away from steep slopes, drops, fragile surfaces, strong vibration, extreme temperatures, and high humidity. Operators must be trained, maintain at least one metre of clearance, stay out of the predicted motion path, and avoid manual intervention while the robot is moving.[2] These requirements place responsibility for robot safety on site preparation and active supervision.
Emergency stopping removes support from all joints, so the robot can collapse and requires a protective frame. The manual also warns that a nearly depleted battery can cause a sudden fall. Remote operation depends on a stable, secure network; interruption, latency, or intrusion can impair control, and AgiBot calls for continuous monitoring of both the robot and its surroundings.[2]
Autonomy remains a central limitation. At the June 2026 London launch, TechRadar reported that the demonstration units were human-controlled. A separate report from the same event said AgiBot's current products were not autonomous and quoted a company executive saying the humanoids would remain under human control and expectations.[10][11] The standard A3 manual's included remote controller, missing LiDAR and depth cameras, and safety instructions are consistent with a supervised operating model, although individual software deployments may differ. The teleoperation and motion-replay path through LinkCraft is well documented; a comparable autonomy stack for A3 is not.[17]
The fastest motion, endurance, swarm coordination, ten-second battery change, test count, and three-year design-life figures come from AgiBot. No A3-specific peer-reviewed technical paper or independent endurance and reliability test was identified. Early launch coverage also reported pre-release values that differ from the final product page and manual. For this reason, the specifications above use the later standard A3 documentation and keep A2, X2, A3 Ultra, and optional accessory specifications separate.
